What unlimited really means

No travel eSIM gives you unlimited data at full speed forever. Every plan here either gives you a set amount of fast data each day and then slows down, or slows you after a fair-use amount. The useful questions are how much fast data you get each day, how slow it gets afterwards, and how much you can share by hotspot.

How we picked

We compared Japan as a common reference point, at 7 and 30 days, then looked at each provider’s daily limits, hotspot rules and refunds. Prices were read from each provider’s own site on October 19, 2026. Pelesim prices are shown before VAT; other prices are as each site displayed them, and local taxes may apply.

Do you actually need unlimited?

For maps, messaging and social apps, 1 to 3 GB a day is more than enough, and a fixed plan is often cheaper. Unlimited earns its price if you stream video, take video calls, or share a hotspot with a laptop every day.
